ANDOVER, MA — Police were investigating Thursday after human remains were found in Andover Monday, the Essex District Attorney's Office said.
A dog walker called Andover police Monday morning about possible human remains in a wooded area near Route 28 and Interstate 495, the district attorney's spokeswoman Carrie Kimball said. Officials have confirmed the remains are human.
The Chief Medical Examiner's Office was working to identify the bones, Kimball said.
Police returned to the area Thursday morning for an additional search, Kimball said.
The case remains under investigation.
