WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A Pennsylvania man was indicted by a Warren County Grand Jury on multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder, in the death of a Washington Borough woman and the injury of her son, according to Warren County's prosecutor. Kyle Kaspereen, 24, of Easton, Pennsylvania, was indicted Wednesday in the Nov. 30 death of Elaine Trachin, 84, of Washington Borough, whose body was found on Nov. 30 in a house on Wayne Street in Washington Borough after neighbors asked police to do a welfare check, the prosecutor's office said. Trachin's son, William "Bart" Trachin, 52, was also found, the prosecutor's office said. He was seriously injured and was rushed to intensive care in a nearby hospital, the prosecutor's office said, as reported earlier by Patch. William Trachin's current condition was not known. Kaspereen was charged with murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution, Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer said in a news release. Kaspereen was in custody at the Warren County Correctional Center awaiting trial, Pfeiffer said. A murder conviction would carry a maximum life sentence in New Jersey state prison without the chance of parole, Pfeiffer said Wednesday. Detectives discovered Kaspereen had been in touch with William Trachin the day of the incident, the prosecutor's office said. Kaspereen was seen deleting text messages during an interview break with detectives; the texts pertained to a motorcycle sale, Pfeiffer said. That led prosecutors to charge Kaspereen with evidence tampering on Dec. 2, Pfeiffer said. Washington Police Department found William Trachin, who uses a wheelchair, restrained by duct tape on Nov. 30, Pfeiffer said. his entire body was covered with a trash bag and was duct-taped, Pfeiffer said. New Jersey State Police divers retrieved William Trachin's cell phone from a section of the Delaware River on Dec. 9 after surveillance video showed Kaspereen tossing an object into the river on Nov. 30, Pfeiffer said.
