The president and CEO of CenterPoint Energy calls 2021 a "great year," despite an outcry from customers about higher utility bills.
The Texas-based company reported income for shareholders of $641 million for the fourth quarter of 2021.

In a release, CenterPoint President and CEO Dave Lesar (leh-ZAHR) said 2021 earnings met or exceeded expectations.
The earnings report came amid complaints from customers about higher utility bills and a letter from the Evansville City Council calling on the company to provide more support and leniency for low-income and fixed-income customers.
Higher natural gas rates have led to a spike in customers' bills this winter.
