RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Southern California Edison said a downed power pole along Clinton Keith Road, west of Interstate 15, near Murrieta will be uprighted Thursday.
An SCE spokesperson said a vehicle hit the pole shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson said his agency received no calls for service in that timeframe on Clinton Keith Road. The fire department is summoned for injury crashes.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday SCE reported crews were en route to upright the pole and wires. Once crews begin work, motorists should expect traffic delays on the narrow roadway. The work is expected to be completed by 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the SCE spokesperson.
The downed pole with lines that appeared to be intact near the entrance to the La Cresta community was leaning away from the road.
Approximately 57 SCE ratepayers were without power as of 9 a.m. as a result of the downed pole, according to the SCE spokesman. More than 300 ratepayers were without service immediately after the crash, the utility reported.
Editor's note: An SCE spokesperson initially said the pole was downed shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday, but later corrected the time and date. The story has been updated.
