LAKE BARRINGTON, IL — Two Advocate hospital locations have set up a temporary drive-up testing center for the coronavirus, but these drive-through spots aren't a free-for-all for the general public. According to the Daily Herald Advocate Good Shepherd and Lutheran General hospital set up the sites for patients authorized by the local health department to undergo a screening for COVID-19. Advocate Good Shepherd near Lake Barrington kicked off the drive-through testing service earlier this month, with Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge now doing the same, the news report said. Those who are sick and think they may have the coronavirus must get authorization for the testing from a doctor, as doctors said not everyone will fit testing criteria. According to the Advocate Health website, those who think they've been exposed to the coronavirus, are experiencing symptoms or need to learn more about testing need to call 866-443-2584, and from there, they may be referred to a testing location.
