CARTERSVILLE, GA — A man using fake credentials and what appeared to be an unmarked police car was arrested Wednesday for attempting to impersonate police, Cartersville police Department.
Cartersville police arrested Justin Greene, 29, of Cartersville on Wednesday on charges of impersonation of a police officer.
On Friday, Greene attempted to assist officers on a felony stop but left before he could be identified, police said. During that stop, Greene presented himself as a "public safety officer," displayed a replica firearm, and attempted to assist officers in bringing two suspects into custody at gunpoint, police said.
Greene was driving what appeared to be an unmarked police car complete with lights and a siren, and was wearing a badge.
Officers arrested Greene on Wednesday inside the vehicle, and seized items including tactical gear and the replica firearms, and identification closely resembling Georgia police credentials, police said.
