Facility Custodian General Description The Custodian works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager. General knowledge of custodial work & grounds keeping is required. Knowledge of building maintenance is desirable. The Custodian performs janitorial, grounds keeping and site security duties, including but not limited to, general cleaning, waxing floors & shampooing carpets, flower bed and lawn care, parking lot maintenance & snow removal, and security rounds. Some light duty building maintenance may also be assigned on occasion. The Custodian works from 3:30pm-12:00am, Monday and Tuesday, and 6:00am-2:30pm, Friday through Sunday. Duties General custodial and grounds keeping of the facility’s building, grounds, and equipment. Daily security rounds of the hatchery facility and visitor center. Maintaining janitorial supplies. Painting, pressure washing, snow removal. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Custodian must have knowledge of general custodial practices. The ability to work with minimal supervision, follow directions, read and understand instructions is required. The Custodian will be required to operate equipment such as, but not limited to, floor buffers, carpet cleaning equipment, snow blowers & snowplows. Experience with the use of forklifts, gas and electric power tools is desirable. Minimum Qualifications One Year experience in custodial work. Good communication skills, a high school diploma or equivalent. Current Alaska Driver’s License. Candidates selected for an interview will be subject to a background check.
