COOK COUNTY, IL — A Cook County board commissioner has tested positive for the coronavirus. Kevin B. Morrison reported his positive COVID-19 tests results on his Twitter page Wednesday, telling his followers he was feeling well and not displaying many symptoms. "Upon receiving my positive test results, I immediately contacted anyone that I knowingly came in contact with and encouraged them to be tested," Morrison wrote in his Wednesday post on Twitter. Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, I am feeling well with very little symptoms. Upon receiving my positive test results, I immediately contacted anyone that I knowingly came in contact with and encouraged them to be tested. 1/3— Kevin B. Morrison (@Kevin4Cook) September 30, 2020 He said he's following guidance provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Cook County Department of Public Health and will be self-isolating for at least 14 days. He said he will not resume any in-person activities until he has a confirmed negative test. "I encourage everyone to continue to follow public health guidance and to stay safe," according to Morrison. Last week, Morrison and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle appeared together at the county's COVID-19 Small Business Assistance program at Thornton Distilling Company in Thornton, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Commissioner Donna Miller, Rep. Will Davis and community partners were also at the event. Someone in his close circle got sick over the weekend and Morrison, as a precaution, got tested on Monday. He found out his results were positive on Wednesday, according to the article. The 15th District includes portions of Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Streamwood, Arlington Heights and Elgin. More via the Chicago Sun-Times
