BARRINGTON, IL — A woman was killed after being struck by a train in downtown Barrington on Thursday afternoon, village officials told Patch Friday morning. The woman was hit by the train near Route 14 and Lake Zurich Road.
Following the incident, a 9,000-foot train blocked Canadian National crossings at Route 59, Route 14, Main Street and Lake Zurich Road from about 3:40 p.m. until just before 6 p.m., according to information shared by the village. Train service has since resumed, officials said.
