You can earn up to $50 for your participation in an in-person study at Arizona State University, West Campus (located at 47th Ave & Thunderbird Rd in Glendale, AZ).
The purpose of the study is to gain a better understanding of how jurors make decisions about capital murder cases. As a participant, you would play the role of a mock juror, watch selections from a video of a murder trial, and give us your opinions about the case. Participants will be hooked up to sensors that measure heart rate. Like real jurors, you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen to participate.
This study will take you 1 to 2 hours to complete. All responses are anonymous-- no names or other identifying information will be linked to your responses. The session will be videotaped, but nobody outside of our Social Psychology and Law Lab will see them.
You will be compensated $20 per hour with an additional $5.00 per hour for parking (i.e., $25 total per hour). Each session will last between 1-2 hours, so you will be paid a total of $25-$50. You will be compensated with an Amazon gift card sent to you via email within two days of your participation. We will reimburse you for parking in cash when you get to our lab.
To participate, please use the link below to provide some basic information about yourself and schedule a time for the in-person portion of the study. This first survey should take only 10-15 minutes to complete and will determine whether you are eligible for the in-person study.
If you have questions about your participation in the study, please email Hannah Phalen at [email protected].
Thank you for your time.
