In honor of Black Futures Month, Ìpàdé is partnering with The Safe Sisters Circle for a day of economic and wellness skills-building! In honor of #BlackFuturesMonth, Ìpàdé is partnering with The Safe Sisters Circle to provide a day of economic and wellness skills-building workshops for women in Washington, DC. Ìpàdé is DC’s first co-working space and community of support designed for BIPOC entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives. The Safe Sisters Circle is a non-profit organization that provides free culturally specific, holistic, and trauma-based services to Black women survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault primarily living in Washington, DC's Wards 7 and 8. Professional and personal development sessions will include: Basics of checking and savings accountsHow to file taxes and tax credits to be aware of (e.g. child tax credit)Job searching and interviewing best practicesResume-writing best practices or individual resume reviewTrauma-informed self-care and wellnessAs a result of the day of economic empowerment, participants will be better equipped to seek gainful employment, manage their own finances, and pursue their health and success. Ipade - styled after Ìpàdé (ee-pah-day), a word from the West African Yoruba language that conveys a sense of gathering and coming together - is an inclusive community of support and accountability for Black, Indigenous, and people of color changemakers. At Ipade, we bring together women and femme (womxn) of color entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives to build skills, resilience, and power to transform society for the good of our communities. We do that by providing member-driven workshops, events, and content in safe spaces that center womxn of color. Join us!
