Description

Meditate on and engage with art through a series of mindfulness-based creative exercises on this unique 1st Friday walking tour! Many people think of mindfulness as sitting or lying in meditation with their eyes closed the whole time—however, mindfulness is even more deeply about being present to what's in front of you with eyes wide open. And one of the most glorious applications of mindfulness practice is in the appreciation of art. Art is an excellent tool for awareness and focus. It allows us to unplug from distractions, step into the present moment and fully experience something profound and beautiful. Unfortunately, similar to life, we often rush by art overlooking its intricacies, its story, its depth. During this next ARTventure, we will be slowing things way down—through a series of mindfulness-based creative exercises—to finally give art the attention it deserves. Join us March 4th for this one-of-a-kind Eugene gallery tour. Tickets are available now. Admission includes the 2.5 hour experience, artesian water and a mini-healthy/gourmet snack pack to keep you satiated as we walk along (please indicate if you have dietary restrictions). Some galleries may also offer refreshments. This is a small group tour with limited availability. Tickets may sell out without warning. About your guide: Billie has been practicing mindfulness for over 15 years. She has attended several 10 day silent Vipassana meditation boot camps, a Zen intensive and spent 6 full days in-person learning about the path to enlightenment from the Dali Lama. As a coach and educator, Billie has led mindfulness and creative workshops for private clients, nonprofits and in corporate. Her greatest passions include creativity, reinvention and exploring the intersection of life and art. ____ Notes: This event is posted in multiple places and may fill up without prior warning. If you wait until the last minute, you'll likely miss out. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to park and find the group (there are free 3 hour lots in front of and adjacent to the hotel). Dress warm, layers suggested for going in and out of galleries, and wear shoes you'll be comfortable walking in for a while. Event will happen rain or shine. Masks are required when inside galleries and businesses, and suggested outside when distancing isn't possible. Your guide is vaxxed and boosted. Questions?
