AURORA, IL — Governor J.B. Pritzker's new coronavirus stay-at-home order has forced several shows at Paramount Theatre in Aurora to cancel or reschedule, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to watch a concert in the coming days. The theater recently announced that it will host Connection: A Social Media Concert Series to keep artists and audiences connected during the shutdown. The first of the themed concerts will feature performances by local students. Students who are stuck home from school, whether its elementary school, high school or college, are encouraged to submit an original song or video about their connection to their school. Students can submit their work by emailing a downloadable link to [email protected]. The deadline to submit is April 1. This first concert will air on April 4. You can tune in via the Paramount Theatre website or their Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages. The following week's theme will be unveiled each Wednesday and submissions for each week's theme will be accepted through the following Wednesday. In a statement, Amber Mak, New Works Development Director at Paramount Theatre, said, "In the few days we have all been advised to socially distance ourselves, it's become clear that we need to find ways to stay in touch now more than ever. While we may not be able to bring you live theater right now, Paramount's New Works Department has conceived this social media concert series to keep people connected until we can all see each other again at the theater."
