Painesville, OH – June 9, 2020 – Thirty new insulated delivery bags for the Lake County Council on Aging’s (LCCOA) home delivered meal program are what was recently purchased with an emergency relief grant from Griswold Home Care. The grant was made by Griswold Home Care Director Brian Rice, a long-time supporter, volunteer meal deliverer and past board member of the LCCOA. “An incredible advocate for seniors in Lake County for many years,” is how LCCOA Executive Director Joseph Tomsick described Rice. “We have always been able to turn to Brian (and Griswold Home Care) in times of need.” Tomsick said Rice also shares a wealth of knowledge about seniors and he has valued his expertise. (from l. to r.) Joseph Tomsick, Executive Director of the Lake County Council on Aging, receives a grant from Griswold Home Care Franchise Director Brian Rice in 2017 The food insecurity among seniors in Lake County has been unprecedented, according to Tomsick. LCCOA is serving 35.23 percent more seniors compared with those served in the months of March and April last year. The grant to buy the new insulated meal delivery bags was made possible through the Jean Griswold Foundation’s Griswold Gives COVID-19 Emergency Relief Program, which supports senior-focused nonprofits facing a lack of funding, resources and volunteers due to the Pandemic. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread, nonprofits are struggling to meet the increasing needs of local seniors, many of whom are unable to leave their houses to get essential products and services. “During such uncertain times, it’s important to lend a hand to local nonprofits serving the growing number of people in need – especially seniors,” Rice said. “This Agency has been a good partner to seniors and Griswold Home Care. We are strong supporters of LCCOA’s meals program and we’re happy to provide the new insulated delivery bags. We know the need among local seniors will continue to be high during this crisis period.” Insulated Meal Delivery Bag, Purchased with Emergency Relief Grant from Griswold Home CareLaunched in 2019, Griswold Gives is an annual grant program that helps Griswold Home Care franchise directors give back to their communities by awarding grants to local nonprofits of their choice. The Jean Griswold Foundation is a private charity established by Griswold Home Care to further the company’s belief that care for the elderly and disabled should be available to all. Every dollar donated is used to further its mission to support programs and services that allow seniors to age in place.
