Join The Oaklandside for a fun night out to celebrate Oakland's creative talents.
Since the launch of The Oaklandside in 2020, our local newsroom has been bringing you compelling reporting about creative people who help capture and evolve our city’s stories through art, food, poetry, dance, music, and so much more.
Now, we’re going to celebrate them and keep the conversation going — and we’re doing it live.
“The Oaklandside Culture Makers” is a new quarterly series of live events, powered by Xfinity, where you will hear from some of our most talented, engaging local creatives.
Our first Culture Makers evening takes place on Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m., at the New Parkway Theater.
Each Culture Makers night will include lively conversations, some of them hosted by The Oaklandside's arts and community reporter Azucena Rasilla, as well as live performances. The guests may be famous or they might just be breaking through to public recognition. Our March 24 guests will be announced soon.
And, of course, the evening wouldn’t be complete without delicious food and drink from local purveyors.
As we start venturing out again to enjoy cultural gatherings, we hope you’ll agree that a fun night out with Oakland’s creators is just what we need after months of social isolation. (To keep everyone safe, we will be adhering to local COVID protocols at the time.)
Journalism for Oakland. We amplify community voices, share information resources, and investigate systems, not just symptoms.
