ILLINOIS — Seven Illinois casinos will be allowed to take bets on live sports when they are allowed to reopen after the state's gaming board approved sports wagering licenses on Thursday. The board unanimously approved licenses for all seven casinos, with the licenses set to expire in June 2024. Hollywood Casino — Aurora and JolietGrand Victoria Casino — Elgin Rivers Casino — Des PlainesCasino Queen — East St. LouisThe Argosy — AltonPar-A-Dice Hotel Casino — East PeoriaThough these casinos now hold licenses to accept sports wagers, bettors won't immediately be able to jump back into the game, as each casino must receive approval before taking online bets, according to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times. Pritzker: Horse Racing Can Return To Illinois Several sports, including professional golf and NASCAR, have returned amid the coronavirus pandemic, and talks are ongoing to resume the NBA, MLB and NHL and other leagues' schedules. Casinos remain closed during Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois reopening plan, but they could reopen when the state enters the next phase, which could happen on June 26 at the earliest. Each casino must have its reopening plan approved by the board prior to welcoming back players.
