TEXAS MINORITY COALITION DONATES PORTRAIT OF CONDELEEZA RICE TO THE AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM IN TYLER In celebration of Black History Month TYLER, TX – In celebration of Black History Month, Texas Minority Coalition will unveil a portrait of Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State. Currently a professor of Political Economy at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Condoleezza Rice is an American diplomat, political scientist and lifelong civil servant. Rice served under the George W. Bush administration as the 66th United States Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009 and as the 20th National Security Advisor from 2001 to 2005. A member of the Republican Party, Rice was the first female African-American secretary of state and the first woman to serve as National Security Advisor. Until the election of Barack Obama as president in 2008, Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, were the highest-ranking African Americans in the history of the federal executive branch (by virtue of the secretary of state standing fourth in the presidential line of succession). Additionally, Rice was the highest-ranking African American woman in the history of the United States until the inauguration of Kamala Harris as vice president in 2021. The Texas African American Museum is dedicated to the preservation of African American History of Texas and America. The Museum focuses and the education and preservation of African American History. The portrait is the third donation made to the museum by Texas Minority Coalition and will be presented on February 25th at 11 a.m. at the African American Museum located at 309 West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Tyler Texas. TMC is a group that is uniting the Texas conservative community.
