AURORA, IL — Aurora police are set to block several roads and create multiple detours around the Chicago Premium Outlets starting early Friday morning, with crowds of shoppers still expected to descend on the mall in the midst of a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The mall on Aurora's East Side is following Tier 3 restrictions imposed by public health officials, meaning its capacity will be limited for Black Friday shopping. Coronavirus Death Toll Rising Fast In Kane County: IDPH Those capacity limits could cause traffic and safety issues, so Aurora police will close roads at 4 a.m. Friday morning, two hours before the Chicago Premium Outlets open to customers, police said in a news release. Police are set to close the following roads from 4 a.m. to about 7 p.m. Friday:Corporate Boulevard between Farnsworth Avenue and Church Road (businesses on Corporate Boulevard will be accessible to employees, visitors and for deliveries)Bilter Road between Church Road and Farnsworth Avenue Geneva Ditches Proposal To Issue Fines For COVID-19 Violations Police could also temporarily close the following roads to some traffic, if necessary: Southbound traffic on Farnsworth Avenue between Butterfield Road (IL-56) and Bilter RoadEastbound traffic on Bilter Road from Farnsworth AvenueAurora police will monitor traffic conditions throughout Saturday and could implement additional temporary road closures, the release states. $5M In Grants To Help Kane County Businesses Cope With Pandemic The planned road closures should not stop anyone from accessing the Illinois Department of Public Health's coronavirus testing site directly across Farnsworth Avenue from the Chicago Premium Outlets. The Aurora Police Department will publish interactive maps on the City of Aurora website to help shoppers plan ahead and find the best routes, according to a news release.
