AURORA, IL — More than three dozen teachers and employees within West Aurora District 129 tested positive for the coronavirus in the first quarter of the new school year, despite almost all classes being held remotely until this week. The district's coronavirus dashboard shows 44 coronavirus cases among District 129 staff since Sept. 10, including eight employees at West Aurora High School and seven at Greenman Elementary. $3M Bail For Man Accused Of Stabbing, Killing Elgin Man Seven students who are attending in-person class or participating in school-sponsored activities have also tested positive over that period, the dashboard shows. East Aurora Superintendent cited a "prevailing high number" of coronavirus cases in the area when announcing the delayed return to in-person instruction. West Aurora District 129's main ZIP code, 60506, accounts for about 31 percent of all coronavirus cases in Aurora, with 2,373 since the start of the pandemic, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
