MSHSL Votes To Reinstate High School Football, Volleyball

BROOKLYN CENTER, MN — The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Monday voted to reinstate the fall football and volleyball seasons for this year. The decision was made after Blaine Novak, president of the Minnesota State High School League's Board of Directors, called for a special meeting to decide the immediate future for fall sports. The board for MSHSL approved a return to football starting Sept. 28 with a 10-week season, including six regular-season games. The plan for the postseason is yet to be determined. MSHSL officials also approved an 11-week volleyball season that will begin on Sept. 28. Monday's decisions are a reversal of the MSHSL's August vote, which moved football and volleyball to the spring. Girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, girls swimming and diving, and boys and girls soccer to began their seasons Aug. 17.
