The honorary day is an opportunity for our district and the community to recognize the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education, and their commitment to providing a local voice for East Aurora's educational vision. Our school board members give up personal time and family time because they understand the importance of local governance in our educational system. They bring their passion, experience, and wisdom to help guide our district. They sacrifice a great deal to ensure students on the east side of Aurora have access to a high quality education system, one that prepares them for college or career, and allows them to reach their full potential. School Board Members Day is a time to reflect on our school board's important role in creating lasting educational opportunities that meet local needs and offer a pathway to a successful future for each and every child. It's an opportunity to honor school board members who serve as unpaid volunteers for the benefit of the students and community residents, while also acting as front-line education advocates providing a local voice and vision for our district.
