KANE COUNTY, IL – The Kane County 16th Judicial Court will remain open via remote access starting Nov. 30, as the state moves into Tier 3 mitigations on Friday to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
In a release Thursday, Chief Judge Clint Hill said that the court will be increasing its reliance on remote virtual hearings in order to minimize the number of people who must enter the courthouse building, including traffic branch courts in Aurora, Elgin and St. Charles.
"We have been very successful in keeping the spread of the virus in our courthouses low, but we know that the risks within our community are sadly increasing," Hill said in a prepared statement. "This is our way of continuing to help prevent the further spread of the virus."
Virtual hearings will be in effect through the end of Jan. 2021.
