AURORA, IL — An Aurora man is facing a slew of felony charges, including attempted murder, after police said he shot another man in the head Saturday afternoon. Aurora police allege Detrick Walton, 43, fired a gun at a 55-year-old man while they were arguing inside Walton's car around 1 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East Benton Street. The man was shot in the head, but he was in stable condition Monday and is expected to survive, police said. Walton was arrested Saturday night and charged with eight felonies, including attempted first-degree murder, armed violence, aggravated battery with a firearm, and three aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (three counts), according to Kane County court records. Walton is due to appear in court Dec. 2.
