NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — A man who swiped copper piping from The Home Depot in North Patchogue along with a woman fled in a stolen truck and was later found with a semi-automatic handgun on Feb. 16, Suffolk police say.
A security guard alerted a police officer who spotted Joshua Graham, a 32-year-old homeless man, and Rebecca Browell, 44, of Bay Shore, leaving the store with $1300 worth of stolen copper wire without paying, according to police. Browell was "quickly apprehended," but Graham fled in a 2013 Dodge Ram that had been reported stolen, "but was soon arrested himself with an illegal gun found in the car," police said.
Graham and Browell were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, according to police.
Graham was also slapped with a second-degree criminal possession of a weapon charge, as well as third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
Graham bail was set at $150,000 bond or $75,000 cash, but it has not been posted yet, and Browell will be arraigned on March 9, according to online court records.
