Officer Hurt In Crash Responding To Shooting: MVPD

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Just after 9 a.m., Mount Vernon police were called to North Bond Street for a report that a man had been shot. An officer was injured responding to the scene when, police say, a car pulled out in front of him, causing the police officer to hit a tree trying to avoid the car. The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital. The shooting victim, identified as Michael Kinlaw of Yonkers, was shot in the upper back. The 52-year-old is being treated at Jacobi Medical Center, where he is said to be in stable condition. Mount Vernon Police detectives are handling the investigation with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
