BRIDGEPORT, CT — Charges have been dismissed against a local restaurateur accused of trying to bribe a teen who was sexually assaulted in one of his establishments, according to the Connecticut Post. Having finished an accelerated rehabilitation program, the charges against John Vazzano of bribing a witness, hindering prosecution, and interfering with authorities were dismissed, the Post reported Tuesday. Vazzano, of Trumbull, owns Vazzy's locations in Bridgeport, Shelton, Monroe and at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield, as well as Vazzano's Four Seasons in Stratford, the Post has reported. As part of the program, Vazzano was ordered to host a luncheon for a charity that aids victims of sexual assault, which he did in recent days for the Center for Family Justice, according to the Post. Vazzano was also ordered in October by state labor officials to pay almost $100,000 in back wages and penalties, the Post reported. The charges dismissed Tuesday were brought following allegations that in late 2019 two employees at Vazzano's Bridgeport restaurant sexually assaulted a 16-year-old hostess, according to the Post.
