Description

MILFORD, MA — Milford is taking a step toward starting a major stormwater project at Town Park. The town this week opened bidding for contractors to build rain gardens and a large infiltration system at the downtown-area park. The project is the culmination of a four-years of planning between town engineers and the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA). When complete, the new green stormwater system will help filter pollutants before they reach Milford Pond, which is part of the Charles River ecosystem. About $419,000 of the $443,000 project will be paid for with a state Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) grant. The CRWA will pay for the rest. Milford will accept bids for the project through March 18. The town will host potential contractors for a tour of the park on March 4.
