July 20 - 22, 2022 Educating young people for a world that holds unpredictable challenges and ever-changing needs is both inspiring and demanding. Design Thinking promotes critical thinking, creative problem solving and an approach to learning that helps us develop our students to meet that future in our classrooms today. Design Thinking for Deeper Student Learning is a 3-day, immersive workshop designed to introduce educators from all disciplines to Design Thinking tools and methods they can use to create and facilitate powerful and equitable learning experiences for their students. Working individually and in small teams, participants will work on a specific, community-connected challenge to gain knowledge, skills and experience with Design Thinking. They will also explore available resources, join topic-specific “table talks,” and develop a plan of action they can bring back to their home school for immediate benefit. Designed for educators new to Design Thinking, this workshop provides the opportunity to: Learn the principles, methods and mindsets of Design Thinking and Deeper Learning By DoingⓇCollaborate on a deep dive design challenge that includes field work in the communityExplore ways to build Design Thinking and Deeper Learning by DoingⓇ into classroom or school activities and extended projectsEngage one-on-one with HFLI’s expert coaches to develop challenge-as-opportunity lessons and project plans for students or colleaguesGain access to HFLI’s comprehensive set of ready-to-use curricula and resourcesBuild connections with like-minded educators committed to providing equitable learning opportunities for all students and educatorsEarn an HFLI Design Thinking Level 2 Certification (optional, additional $45)HFLI’s approach, Deeper Learning By DoingⓇ, brings Design Thinking together with high leverage instructional practices and culturally responsive principles to form an approach to learning, teaching and leading that advances equity and empowerment. 97% of past participants would recommend their HFLI workshop experience to a colleague. ​​If you have a group of 5 or more, contact [email protected] for special pricing! For requests less than 4 weeks before the workshop date, a 50% credit minus a $25 processing fee will be issued.
