BOURNE, MA — If you find yellow plastic tubing on Cape Cod beaches or anywhere else in Massachusetts, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) wants to know about it.
The yellow plastic is called shock tubing and was used by USACE contractors doing blasting work on the $300 million Boston Harbor dredging project, officials told CapeCod.com. Officials said the tubing, which can be pictured here, poses no threat to residents, but can be dangerous to birds and other small animals if they eat it.
"Though the contractor was attentive to clean-ups of this tubing after each blast, the deep channel conditions, and frequent flow of vessel traffic in and out of the harbor, unfortunately made it impossible to account for all the used shock tubing." USACE officials told CapeCod.com
Anyone who sees the tubing should call Todd Randall at 978-318-8518 or email him at [email protected].
