NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man who pleaded guilty to firearm and drug possession charges in October 2021 has been sentenced to imprisonment and supervised release, the District Attorney's office has announced. Theo Sargent (aka "Ciph"), 43, of New Haven will serve 33 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, announced Leonard C. Boyle, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Sargent pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon on Oct. 19, 2021, the attorney's office said. Since his criminal history includes state convictions for felony drug and firearm offenses, it's unlawful for him to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce, officials said. Sargent was arrested on May 10, 2019, after New Haven Police conducted a court-authorized search of his Quinnipiac Avenue residence. The attorney's office said police seized three handguns, more than 300 rounds of ammunition, approximately 20 grams of cocaine, quantities of marijuana and MDMA (also known as ecstasy or molly) and "items used to process and package narcotics for street sale." He was released on a $100,000 bond and is required to report to prison on April 20.
