MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested after police said he was found to be in the possession of a gun and drugs during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning in Middletown. Officers conducted the traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. on a black Nissan Altima that was "determined to be unregistered, improperly using license plates, and traveling at a high rate of speed," according to a news release. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Quimeen Johnson, immediately got out of the vehicle, according to police. Police said Johnson was detained, and a later search of the vehicle "revealed an unregistered Glock 17 semiautomatic 9 mm handgun on the driver's seat of the vehicle." The Glock had an "extended 30 round magazine which was fully loaded with live ammunition as well as a live round of ammunition in the chamber," according to police. Officers also found 20.68 grams of crack cocaine, an amount of Oxycodone, and a large amount of cash inside the vehicle, according to police. Police said the drugs were worth more than $2,000. "Johnson does not possess a valid CT pistol permit, is the subject of a domestic violence protective order preventing him from possessing weapons, and has a misdemeanor handgun disqualifier from a previous arrest which prevents him from possessing a handgun," police wrote in the news release. Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, criminal possession of a pistol, possession with intent to sell, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, Improper use of marker plates, operating without a license, illegal operation without minimum insurance, and traveling unreasonably fast. He was being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond with a court date of March 11, according to state judicial records.
