MERIDEN, CT — Police have arrested a man on charges that he stole an ATM from a Meriden restaurant, according to a police Facebook post. Francis Gill, 44, was charged with third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, third-degree larceny, and theft of plates. Police responded to a call July 4 on a report of a stolen ATM at The Dawg House Bar & Grill at 999 Broad St. Police considered Gill a suspect and had a warrant for his arrest approved in August. Gill was taken into custody by another law enforcement agency, was unable to post bond, and was placed into the custody of the Department of Corrections. Due to COVID-related issues, Meriden was not able to serve the warrant. Gill was released by the Department of Corrections into the custody of the Newington Police Department so they could serve their active warrant on him. He was then taken into custody by Meriden police, who served their active warrant on him. He posted $50,000 bond and will appear in court April 8. Gill was then released into the custody of Wallingford police, who also had an active warrant on him.
