WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 15-year-old boy suffered a stab wound on a Woodbridge basketball court on Monday, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. The boy was taken to a hospital, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening. The stabbing occurred at the basketball courts near Old Coach Road and Rippon Boulevard in Woodbridge, police said. Authorities were called to the scene around 2:15 p.m. on Monday. The victim told police that he was at the basketball courts with a friend when a group of unknown males approached them. During the encounter, one of the suspects started a fight with the victim, police said. Eventually, other members of the group joined the fight and assaulted the victim, according to the police report. One person struck the victim with a metal bat before the fight ended. While the victim started to walk away from the area with his friend, the victim noticed that he had been stabbed. Rescue personnel responded and took the victim to a hospital so he could receive treatment for his injuries. Members of the group fled the area before police arrived on the scene. No other injuries were reported, police said. No suspect description was available on Tuesday.
