RESTON, VA — An 86-year-old woman who was struck by a car on Feb. 3 as she was crossing Baron Cameron Avenue in Reston became the county's second pedestrian fatality of 2022, according to a Fairfax County Police Department blog post. An investigation by FCPD detectives determined that Huamin Xuan was struck around 10:45 a.m. by a 2003 Toyota Prius as she was crossing from north to south on Baron Cameron Avenue. The Toyota was traveling east on Baron Cameron Avenue when it struck Xuan, who was in the roadway outside the crosswalk near the intersection of North Village Road. Rescue units transported Xuan to a nearby hospital for treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries on Feb. 16. The driver of the Toyota remained on the scene, while detectives conducted their investigation. Neither alcohol nor speed were considered factors in the crash.
