BOULDER, CO — The Boulder area was under yet another hazardous weather outlook Wednesday as experts warned a bone-chilling cold that plunged temperatures into the single digits could lead to frostbite in under 30 minutes. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday morning for much of the state. Cold temperatures were expected to keep high temperatures in the single digits for the second day in a row across the Foothills, and the low 10s over the plains. More snow was expected to continue across the mountains Wednesday and overnight, creating slick roads. Snow will redevelop across the urban corridor and eastern plains Wednesday afternoon and evening, with light accumulations expected. Perhaps of most concern: Frostbite would be possible in less than 30 minutes, the weather service said. Dress warmly in several layers of clothing, hats, and mittens, and avoid staying outside for too long. Light snow was expected to end Thursday morning, but the bitter cold will linger over the state. A weak system may bring light snow Friday to the mountains and Front Range. Temperatures will warm through the weekend and climb above normal Sunday.
