Caltrain Fatally Strikes Person Near Hillsdale Station

SAN MATEO, CA — A Caltrain fatally struck a person Tuesday afternoon near Hillsdale Station. The person was trespassing on the tracks south of the station, according to the agency. The incident happened just before 2 p.m. Emergency personnel were at the scene while trains were held in both directions for roughly an hour. No information about the person who died was immediately available. There were 44 people aboard the train heading from San Jose to San Francisco and no injuries were reported among the people on board, according to Caltrain spokesperson Dan Lieberman.
