High: 21 Low: 7. Here are the top three stories in Des Moines today: Neighbors helped their fellow neighbors escape a deadly fire on Wednesday morning. The fire occurred at 3400 block of Southwest 31st Street around 8:45 a.m. Neighbors saw smoke coming from the garage and alerted the people inside, who evacuated safely. (KCCI Des Moines)A second arrest has been made in the 2020 shooting of Des Moines woman, Catherine Bobbitt. On Tuesday morning, Derrick Glenn Smith Jr. was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Antonio Markez Hodges, another suspect in the shooting, was charged last year. (KCRG)Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement is calling for the firing of an unknown police officer. A video showing the Des Moines officer pushing a citizen downstairs has caused an outcry.
