Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga: Chattanoogans who frequently drive along Roberts Mill Road in Hixson may need to find an alternate route. After yesterday's heavy rainfall, Hamilton County officials have closed the road "for the immediate future" as they repair the parts of the road that cracked and washed away. According to the County, the highway department is in the process of contacting a geo-tech stabilization company to assist in the assessment. (WTVC)Just over a year ago, plans began to take shape for a new downtown Chattanooga Visitor Center near the Tennessee Aquarium. Now, there's an official timeline for construction. On Wednesday morning, the Hamilton County Commission reviewed renderings of the proposed building, which will sit on Aquarium Plaza, and the City of Chattanooga is expected to approve the lease early next week. The City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County, and the Chattanooga Tourism Company estimate construction will begin in about two months, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for September 2022.
