I'm interested in opening a membership art gallery that takes NO commission from artist and the sale of their work. I'm looking for about 35 artist from anywhere in Humboldt county. I'm thinking the membership fee would be $100 + one 4 hr shift per month ($200 down first month). No other fees. This includes utilities, website sales and shipping, advertising, art displayed 5 days per week, security system and gallery insurance. Depending on the space rented, there may be potential for a time slot rentable art room! Artists would be responsible for their own taxes on their art sales. I want to see if I have the interest, and if so, I would be hoping to open before summer so maybe we can get some tourist flow! I'm trying to give us artists a chance to get art out there with as little fees as possible, but also keep the space open.
