Lakewood Coronavirus Update: New Case Totals

LAKEWOOD, OH — Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lakewood has had between 172 and 255 COVID-19 cases. The Cuyahoga County Board of Health released its latest COVID-19 case data for cities around the county. The board of health breaks down COVID-19 cases by ZIP code. Lakewood went from having between 154 and 221 cases to 172 and 255 cases locally. Throughout Cuyahoga County, at least 830 new cases were confirmed (not including cases in the city of Cleveland). Cuyahoga is currently a "red" or Level 3 county, meaning masks are mandatory locally because there is very high spread of the virus locally. The current red counties in Ohio are: Butler, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Fairfield, Franklin, Hamilton, Lorain, Montgomery, Pickaway, Summit, Trumbull and Wood. Gov. Mike DeWine has made masks mandatory in "red" counties. DeWine said Ohioans should not live their lives in fear of COVID-19, but should be more aware of how they can protect themselves and others. "This isn't about fear. It's about controlling our future," DeWine said. He then added that Ohioans don't want to become "Texas or Florida."
