Here are the top three stories in Grand Rapids today: Downtown Grand Rapids' Heartside Park is getting a new talking, self-cleaning public restroom. The new restroom will be operated year-round, compared to the current facilities that close for the winter months and reopen around April. The funding for the new bathroom will be from the city's Parks Millage Fund, and construction is expected to start summer 2022. (MLive.com)Grand Rapids Public Schools are expected to discontinue the mask mandates that have been in place since the start of the 2021-2022 school year. The district has not announced a definitive date for the ending but they estimate that it will likely occur next week if virus trends continue downwards.
