Description
Do you have a child who is male and 14-17 years old? Has your child recently been experiencing sad or irritable moods or lost interest in his activities? If so, your child may be eligible to participate in a study of the biological link between stress and depression in teenagers. The study takes place in the Psychology Department at Stanford University. We are examining biological factors that measure stress in the body and brain and see how they relate to changes in mood symptoms over time in depressed teenagers. If your child is eligible, he will have the opportunity to visit Stanford University and participate in interviews, complete questionnaires, do some computer activities, and have scans taken of his brain. Participants will receive a picture of their brain as a souvenir!Eligible participants will receive $20/hour for their time, and up to $60 for completion of all follow-ups. We will schedule the visits around your availability (daytime, evenings, and weekends are all fine). To be eligible for this study: ** you must have a child that is male and between the ages of 14-17 years who has recently been experiencing sad moods, irritability or has had a lack of interest in their activities ** you must be a US citizen or non-citizen with a Green Card ** you must read and speak English fluently ** you should have no immediate plans to leave the Bay Area Your participation in all study-related activities, including requests for information, will be kept strictly confidential. If you would like to receive more information or potentially participate, please fill out the following secure survey:https://is.gd/StanfordTeenMoodAlternatively, you can contact [email protected] or (650) 721-5077 for more information.
