You left me this cryptic interview on a used kleenex, who are you mystery cat holder?! What’s your favorite beverage? - Does a smoothie/ shake count? I’m really into blending fruits/ veggies etc. for the ultimate beverage. Like I can get a meal and beverage at the same time. What are you currently listening to? - I’ve mostly been looping Fred Again.. since his last live performance came out about a year ago. He takes little endearing moments from his life, hanging out with friends, events, etc. and makes music from those experiences. Were you ever inspired by any illustrations/animation as a kid that led you to become a designer? - Definitely. I grew up drawing a lot and while I didn’t watch a lot of tv, animation played a big role. I remember seeing The Point (1971) at a young age and that still being burned into my brain. My mom was really good at portraits and to see her be able to put that on paper, really blew my mind. Video games or board games, if so what is your favorite? - Catan or die. Favorite place you’ve ever been? - I luckily got to visit Maui right before the pandemic, like the day we got back stuff started shutting down, and being in more of the remote areas along the beach/ ocean were pretty perfect. Favorite color? - Damn I don’t really have one? First ever design project? -My first design project was doing a logo for my mom's work. They did an open call where anyone could submit something, not paid of course... Either way, I was so excited as I was just outta high school and somewhat skilled in Corel Draw. Ultimately they didn’t pick my direction but don’t let the bastards grind you down. Favorite artist? - Not sure if it's his work or that I’m haunted by it but since learning about Francis Bacon in school, I’ve been drawn to his paintings. While some of his work is incredibly sad, the emotion he’s getting across just burns a hole through your soul. Are cheetos chips? - I think cheetos are like kleenex. Like when you need to blow your nose, you don’t say you need a facial tissue, you ask for a kleenex. Same with cheetos. What’s your hottest controversial design take? - Just don’t do it. Find another career. Favorite serif typeface? - It may be mono/ slab but I’m gonna say Pitch :)
