LAKEWOOD, OH — State Senator Nickie Antonio lambasted Secretary of State Frank LaRose this week. Antonio, who calls Lakewood home, targeted LaRose after he refused to accept electronic absentee ballot requests ahead of the Nov. 3 election. The Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals overturned a previous decision that would have forced LaRose to accept electronic requests. "While a disappointing verdict, I am pleased that this ruling proved what Ohio Democrats have been saying all along: Secretary LaRose had and continues to wield the power to accept online ballot applications, yet he continues to obstruct our democratic process and muzzle Ohio voters," Antonio said in a statement. With weeks to go before the election, 2 million Ohioans have already requested absentee ballots. There have also been 24,222 ballot requests from overseas voters and military service members. The deadline to register to vote or update voter registration information in Ohio is October 5th, 2020. Early voting begins on October 6th, 2020.
