ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Arlington Heights Police Department officers were out in full force over the Thanksgiving holiday. The officers were involved in the Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" Thanksgiving enforcement campaign, according to a new release from the Arlington Heights Police Department. The campaign took place between Nov. 22 and Dec. 2 and local police set up a roadside safety checkpoint during the traffic campaign. The primary focus was to identify and apprehend motorists who chose to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, without using their safety belts, or were committing licensing, equipment or other miscellaneous Illinois Vehicle Code traffic violations, police said. Authorities arrested or cited one person for driving while license suspended, three for failure to wear a seatbelt, one for failure to secure a child in a safety seat, eight for registration-related violations, 35 for equipment violations, one for drug-related offenses and one person on a warrant. "The Arlington Heights Police Department is committed to traffic safety and will continue to be an active participant in IDOT's grant program by participating in the upcoming "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" Christmas / New Year's enforcement campaign," according to the Arlington Heights Police Department press release.
