Metra UP-NW Train Hits SUV In Arlington Heights Causing Delays

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL —The area of Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway is back open after a train hit an SUV in Arlington Heights, while inbound and outbound trains on Metra's Up-Northwest line may be operating on a delayed schedule as of Monday afternoon, officials said. According to a news release from the Arlington Heights Police Department, officers and Arlington Heights fire crews were called to the area at 11:36 a.m. for a train vs. car crash. The person inside the car was extricated and taken to Northwest Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The roadway was reopened around 2:15 p.m., while Metra UP-NW continues updating changes to inbound and outbound schedules on Twitter. Metra Alert UP-NW - Train #646, will not operate due to #642 striking a vehicle.
