ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — If you're raising a family or thinking about it, Arlington Heights might be the perfect place for your needs. According to SafeWise, an online resource that offers safety solutions, information, and recommendations for home and community, Arlington Heights ranks No. 6 in the country on its list of "The Safest Cities To Raise A Child." In compiling the list, the company said it looked at crime rates as well as the number of registered sex offenders per capita to help parents in their search for the "safest place to start a family, as well as to shed light on the cities that have strived to make their neighborhoods family friendly." According to the study, Arlington Heights (population of 75,688) ranked high due to the following criteria: Sex offender rate (per 1,000): 0.37Violent crime rate (per 1,000): 0.37Property crime rate (per 1,000): 8.30 The rest of the Top 10 are: 1. Napervillle, Illinois; 2. Johns Creek, Georgia; 3. Newtown, Massachusetts; 4. Carmel, Indiana; 5. Cary, North Carolina; 7. Flower Mound, Texas; 8. Fishers, Indiana; 9. San Ramon, California; 10. Plymouth, Minnesota. Restaurants Cited For Coronavirus Violations In Arlington Heights According to SafeWise, the top 50 safest cities for families see far less criminal activity than the national average. The top 50 cities had far lower populations and significantly reduced violent crime, property crime, and sex offender rates. For the purposes of the report, the terms "safest" and "dangerous" refer explicitly to crime rates as calculated from FBI crime data — no other characterization of any community is implied or intended, according to SafeWise.
