Literacy Coordinator Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Education required. Reading Endorsement and familiarity with Step Up to Qualtiy preferred General Schedule (flexibility important): 40 hours week Primary Responsibilities: · Support early education classroom environments through coaching teachers and staff in literacy best practices. Ø Work with classroom teacher to develop classroom specific plan annually to address environmental needs and specific classroom processes to be improved · Conduct ELLCO and Reading Quality Scale screening on each classroom at least 2x per year · Complete monitoring visits of each classroom at least quarterly · Ensure ReadyRosie playlists are sent out regularly. Literacy Coach to send out playlist on Wednesdays and classroom teachers on Fridays. Ø Monitor for two-way communication between caregivers and classroom · Ensure curriculum, screening tools and assessments are utilized in fidelity Ø Sit Together and Read (STAR) Ø Heggerty Ø Building Early Literacy and Language Skills (BELLS) book Ø Early Learning Assessment (ELA) · Identify professional development needs of centers and coordinate efforts Ø Contribute to monthly lead teacher meetings with content, modeling, and peer modeling opportunities · Coordinate community and partner efforts to support the Comprehensive Literacy program success · Organize components of a family engagement program to support literacy · Ensure data is collected on time and given to Data Coordinator for analysis · Oversee overall program success and results.
