Description
Gorgeous Layla is looking for her furever home! This beautiful, sweet 52lbs girl is a shepherd/husky mix and is about 3 years old. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Diamond's Friends pulled her from the Riverside Shelter where she had been for over 1.5 months and was at risk of euthanasia. Layla is good with submissive, calm dogs and seems to prefer males to females. Since she can be a bit dog selective, we would recommend her as an only dog (unless you'd also like to adopt her labrador retriever buddy Koda who she LOVES and wishes she could go to a home with! Scroll through her photos to see one of her with Koda). She is very polite in the house and has yet to have a potty accident! She takes treats gently and loves meal time. Layla is going to be an absolutely amazing dog for someone who is willing to be patient with her. We've seen an extremely loving, playful side of her start to come out as her confidence starts to build, and she just needs the right home to continue helping her come out of her shell. This wonderful girl was undoubtedly abused before she ended up at the shelter, so she doesn't trust new people easily. It has taken her about a week to start to feel more comfortable in her foster home, and she's now able to lay down in the living room outside of her crate without feeling the need to constantly be on alert. We've also started to see her goofy, playful side come out, so we know she has a ton of potential to be a happy girl! While Layla is timid with new people, she does have the ability to trust if you give her time and treats. Once she trusts you, she wants pets and love. She just needs love, time and patience. We've found she does great with structure and having a human she knows has her back. She's learning to love her crate and seems to feel safe in there. She's also getting the hang of "come" and "sit." She walks well on an easy walker harness. If you are interested in adopting Layla and helping her become the confident little girl we know she can be, please get in touch with us. This sweetheart deserves a chance, and we so hope there's someone with a big heart out there who truly wants to help a dog in need that is willing to love this girl like she deserves.
