SpacyCloud celebrates March 8 in a most special and meaningful way with amazing people, live music by Tomas Drg International Women’s Day (IDW) has been observed since the early 1900’s. Although these days it is mostly celebrated in Eastern Europe, not many people know that its roots go to the National Women’s Day, established when in 1908 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights. Two years later in 1910 at the second International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen, German activist, Clara Zetkin, makes her historical speech and proposes the idea of an International Women’s Day. From 1911 onwards IWD is celebrated on March 8. By the new millennium, there was little activity occurring on March 8 in most countries, and it took energy and lots of efforts to reignite this holiday. 2011 marked the centenary of the IWD. In the US, Barack Obama proclaimed March to be Women’s History Month, calling Americans to mark this day by acknowledging “the extraordinary accomplishments of women” in shaping the country’s history. sPACYcLOUd
